STAR's Ongoing Mission

As part of its ongoing mission to improve care for patients with STROKE in the community, STAR has adopted a two pronged strategy to increase awareness about STROKE.

Educate the Providers

STAR organized its 2nd Regional Stroke Management Symposium  to educate healthcare providers in the region on March 28th 2013 at Hyatt Regency, Rochester, NY.



This edition of the STAR education program focused on secondary stroke prevention and management from a primary care perspective, besides an update on acute management advances.

STAR Invited Faculty: DR. Marc Chimowitz A leader in secondary stroke prevention, who designed and led the 1st Trial in the world comparing stenting with medical therapy in patients with symptomatic atherosclerotic disease was the KEYNOTE SPEAKER at STAR's 2nd STROKE RGIONAL MANAGEMENT SYMPOSIUM.


Educate Stroke Survivors

STAR understands the importance of engaging the community to ensure that symptoms of Stroke are recognized, and more patients are brought to the hospital to receive timely care. STAR organized a special patient education session during its regional stroke management symposium at the Hyatt Regency, Rochester, NY.

The event was attended by 75 patients and families and attended lectures and talks given by stroke survivors, mood, speech and rehabilitation specialists who care for stroke patients.

The event was supported by the AHA/ASA's Rochester Chapter.
